Nuvvula Pachadi
This chutney made from sesame seeds is eaten with rice and ghee
or with tiffins like idly, dosa or vada
Ingredients
Noo pappu (sesame seeds)- 1 cup
Oil- 2 tsps
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal- 1 tsp
Channa dal- 1 tsp
Hing
Red chillies- 4 (or more as desired)
Curry leaves
Tamarind to taste or lemon juice
salt to taste
Method
Dry roast (fry without oil )the sesame seeds in a pan till it
turns color and gives out a fragrant smell.
You can do the same in a microwave by spreading the seeds in a
plate and microwaving for 2 to 3 mins- turning the plate for uniform
heating. You have to watch it closely as they can burn easily.
Heat the oil. Fry the channa dal, urad dal and mustard seeds with hing.
Add the red chillies and curry leaves
Grind everything together to a paste add tamarind paste or lemon juice
and salt.
This chutney should be smooth and liquidy .
